| Note |
Fanucchi Wood Road Vineyard, just west of Santa Rosa, is one of the few Trousseau gris vineyards in Northern California. Trousseau gris, formerly called grey riesling in the U.S., originate from Northeastern France. Like its cousin Pinot gris, its parent is a red grape – Red Trousseau – and its skin is mauve-bronze color when fully mature.
Peter Fanucchi and his father planted this Trousseau gris vineyard in 1981, knowing the cooler Russian River Valley region is ideal for developing the grape’s natural crisp acidity. When allowed to hang on the vine longer, the grape’s natural sugars concentrate yet it retains some of its acidity, making it an ideal candidate for late harvest dessert wines.
